This and That.

Baruch and I arrived home around 3am on Tuesday.  Tomorrow night, Erev Shabbat, Baruch will be speaking at a Messianic congregation here in town.  Then Motzei Shabbat, Saturday night, we will be at our study center.

Yesterday we had a Skype with a couple in Singapore.  They are going to try to set up some meetings for us with leaders both from Singapore and Indonesia and Malaysia. In some countries, there are many people very hungry for Bible teaching.  We are hoping to get the word out about Baruch’s teaching and would like for it to be used as much as possible.  While we are not allowed to go to Indonesia or Malaysia, due to our Israeli citizenship, we can still use a network of people to get the word out.

I would like to ask all of you to please pray for people who are going through difficult times.  I receive a lot of emails, and I know that there are people who feel alone or isolated.  There are also people who are struggling to find a community of believers who believe the whole Bible as the holy, inspired, inerrant Word of G-d.  Won’t you join me today to pray for them?  Thank you!

The Choral Synagogue in Moscow

Yesterday, Baruch and I walked to the Choral Synagogue in Moscow.  It is a very large, beautiful building.  It was quite an arduous process to get the synagogue built.  The first set of plans were rejected.  The second set were approved and work began in 1887.  In 1888, construction was halted, as the city intervened again and required the builders to remove the completed dome and the exterior image of the scrolls of Moses.  Construction dragged on for five years, until the authorities once again banned it in 1892, giving two choices: sell the unfinished building or convert it into a charity.

The synagogue was finally used for its intended purpose beginning in 1905.  In 1948, Golda Meir came to the synagogue.  She made an unofficial visit there for Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur in her role as Israeli Ambassador to the Soviet Union.  The Soviets were furious.

Here are a few photos I took during our visit.  As you can see, it is a very beautiful synagogue and very large.  According to internet sources, there are about 100,000 Jewish residents of Moscow.

Update/Recap/Heading Home Today

Last Thursday evening, Baruch spoke at Manastur Baptist in Cluj, Romania.  There was a very good crowd there and Baruch taught on Hebrews 4:1-11.

Afterwards, we went to the home of close friends for food and fellowship.  Please pray with us for the people of Romania.  There is a lot of corruption in their government (yes I know there is in all governments) but there is a movement in a direction which should cause concern for those interested in human rights and religious freedom.  The country has made so many wonderful improvements since the fall of Communism.  It is a wonderful country and we pray for the people there.

On Friday, we flew to Moscow.  On Shabbat, Baruch taught a conference on the nature and character of the anti-christ’s empire.  It was well-attended and there were some very good questions.  The people have invited us back already.  We are hoping that through these contacts, many more people will find our television program on CNL.

Michael, who teaches the weekly Parasha at our study center in Israel, translated the Hebrew into Russian for the conference participants. A few of those in attendance knew Hebrew and a few were learning it now, desiring to immigrate to Israel.

Tonight we fly home.  We are looking forward to the meetings and Skype chats we have this week.  Baruch will be teaching this Erev Shabbat (Friday night) at a Messianic congregation in our city.

Shabbat Shalom – Parashat Shoftim

Here is a brief commentary on the Parasha, written by Baruch.

In this week’s Torah portion, there are many instructions about leadership. In fact, in chapter 17 there is a discussion about establishing a king for the nation of Israel. Ultimately this command will be fulfilled by the Messiah, Israel’s final King. Rabbi Moses Maimonides, known as the Rambam, wrote an extensive work called the Mishneh Torah, which systemizes Jewish Law. In the section dealing with leadership, which he also called Shoftim, he discusses laws related to the kings of Israel and the Messiah. In this section the Rambam states,

“…and all these things of Yeshua the one who kept (Himself) and of this Ishmaelite (Muhammad) that stood after him, were only to straighten the way for the King Messiah; and to repair the world, all of it, to worship the L-rd together.” Mishneh Torah section “Shoftim, Halachot M’lahkim chapter 11 and paragraph 4

Rabbi Maimonides, like so many others, believed that Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all worship the same G-d. This is not the case; rather it is a falsehood which is prevalent today and growing. While it is true that these three religions are monotheistic, only those who accept both the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) and the New Testament as the inerrant Word of G-d have a revelation of the One True G-d. Judaism identifies the true G-d by means of the Hebrew Bible, however it fails to worship Him. This is because one reads in the New Testament,

In order that all should honor the Son (Yeshua) just as they honor the Father, the one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father Who sent Him.” John 5:23

Some have incorrectly taught that if one worships the Father, then by default he is also worshiping the Son, because the Father and Son are One. This is not correct. John clearly taught that it is only when one worships the Son (Yeshua) that he worships the Father.

Everyone who denies the Son does not have the Father, the one who confesses the Son also has the Father.” I John 2:23

These are but a few of the verses which reveal that the only way to the One True Living G-d is by means of a Biblically based faith in Yeshua.

Judaism has truth in the Hebrew Bible, but because of its rejection of Yeshua as Messiah (the Son of G-d), Judaism does not provide its followers the means to worship and to know personally the G-d of Israel, nor does it provide a way to find eternal redemption. Because Judaism has added to G-d’s revelation with the acceptance of the Talmud and other works of man as authoritative, Judaism has moved away from G-d’s revelation and has distorted the message of the Hebrew Bible to its followers.

Islam, although it borrows from the Bible, also distorts the revelation of Scripture to a much greater degree and therefore does not offer its followers revelation at all. Hence, like Judaism, there is no salvation available for the one who adheres to Islam. An additional problem for Islam is that the god that Islam offers, allah, IS NOT THE SAME G-D that the Old and New Testaments reveal. The Muslim god is a different god altogether and is simply the creation of man’s depraved mind. Hence, it is wrong for one to assert, as some working with Muslims do, that Jesus is the son of allah or to use the Arabic phrase “enshallah” meaning God willing. The use of such a phrase assumes that the Islamic false god is the true G-d and wrongly conveys to Muslims that you are a follower of allah, rather than the G-d of Israel, the Father of our L-rd and Savior Messiah Yeshua.

Such a use of this expression is offensive to G-d the Father, G-d the Son, and G-d the Holy Spirit.

Bible Study Company

Please check out this link from our good friends Ric and Mary Joyner, the founders and owners of Bible Study Company.  This is a good resource for your Bible study time and I think you will find it very useful.

Ric and Mary seek to help people study the Bible more deeply and have integrated some of Baruch’s teaching to their site.

Please check out this great resource!

Work Day

Hope you are having a great day!  We are in the studio today and Baruch is taping as I write this.  This is a great opportunity for me to answer emails, blog comments and Facebook comments.

I would like to encourage you to tell others about our Facebook page and also this blog. As you can see from yesterday’s post, sometimes there is teaching or information you won’t find anywhere else.

Before you know it, the Fall Holidays will be here and I know that Baruch will be writing at least one teaching for this time and it will only be found here.  So, please encourage others to check out this space.

In the picture on the left, above, is the home page of our website in Dutch.  There is much work going on behind the scenes, not only in English, but in other languages as well.  We appreciate the help we receive from those people in the Netherlands, Romania, etc.  We are also very excited about the Spanish expansion project.  It is moving along and we are very thankful for Victor who is spearheading this effort.  He is making good progress!

Tonight Baruch will be speaking at a congregation here in Cluj.  Then we will be flying out early in the morning to get to Moscow.  Thank you so much for your prayers as Baruch shares the Word!

A Guest Blog by Baruch

Being that we are in a formerly Communist country, Baruch and I have been talking about the current state of affairs in the world.  Islam, Communists, and Dictators are all around us.  He agreed to write a few words for this blog.  So, here is a message from Baruch:

Unfortunately, the news media tends to focus on what is important to them, rather than on what is truly significant. When was the last time you heard about Iran’s expansion into other countries? I am personally disappointed with the previous and current administrations (United States) for their failure to stop Iran’s nuclear weapons program. We all know that despite this administration’s certifying the agreement with Iran, this Islamic nation is violating many of the terms. So much for tearing up the agreement the first day in office.  However, the purpose of this article is not to discuss Iran’s nuclear program.  It is to inform those who may not be aware that since this agreement, Iran has felt bolstered by the fact that the world will not stop them from doing whatever they want to do.

What Iran is doing is sending their soldiers into several countries. In many ways, this is not new, what is of significance is the amount. There have been Iranian soldiers in Iraq for several years, but in the last year it has increased dramatically. A year ago there were perhaps a thousand Iranian soldiers in Syria.  That number has grown significantly.  In fact, Prime Minister Netanyahu has just spoken with Russia’s Putin about this.  Many believe that Iran wants to expand and create a corridor through Iraq, Syria and Lebanon to the Mediterranean Sea. Naturally this is a great concern to Israel.

I hope you will remember that I spoke more than two years ago that Iran was the next prophetic sign.  At our 2015 conference, I dedicated a session on Daniel Chapter 8, which reveals that Iran will rise up and expand and not only be a great threat, but will cause great suffering in the world.  It will actually be the Anti-christ who will put down this empire.  The world will rejoice, not knowing that the victor will be much worse.

Israel has a right to be concerned–an Iran on her border is most troublesome.  Even today, Lebanon, who is ruled mostly by Hezbollah, is under Iran’s control.  The U.S. failed to stop Iran’s program and time will prove this to be true.  We also see more and more U.S. politicians are conceding a nuclear North Korea.  Such weakness on the world political stage only bolsters tyrants.  Russia takes part of Georgia, world was silent. Russian takes Crimea, and is increasing its land grab in the Ukraine, and there is no effective response, as sanctions are not changing the reality on the ground.  This continued unwillingness to use military force will lead to many future atrocities.

The events of Daniel Chapter 8 are near and we are seeing things move into position in our days.  But for the most part, the media is silent on this subject.  I guess pulling an Asian announcer from broadcasting a college football game in Virginia, because he has the name Robert Lee, is where media outlets need to be concentrating. Wake up, the End Times are nearing.
