I just read this morning that Benjamin Netenyahu states that there is irrefutable evidence that the three Israeli yeshiva boys were kidnapped by Hamas. Soldiers and others are going throughout Judea and Samaria looking for the students, and many militants have been arrested. This is a poster which was hung up all over asking women as they light the candles for Shabbat (at 7:27pm this past Shabbat) to remember the boys and to pray for them.
While this is going on, there has also been an escalation in tension with Gaza. Rockets have been shot into Southern Israel and the Israeli Air Force has responded.
There are two big stories here in Israel right now. First of all, 3 teenage Jewish boys from the “settlements” are missing. They are believed to have been kidnapped by Palestinians. PLEASE PRAY for their safety. This is a very dangerous situation.
The second bit of news is that we have a newly-elected President, Reuven Rivlin. We were hoping that he would win, as he does not have any sketchy activity in his past. The other candidate is being investigated for taking bribes (evidently a common crime amongst the politicians here!). The President in Israel is a figurehead, and does not have political power. The current President, Shimon Perez, is ending his political career, at least officially!
We wish you all a blessed, meaningful, Shabbat Shalom!
